Sigidy is back with another installment in the ongoing saga of progressive audio the rap legend has become known for. “BE NICE” is the next progressive step where the Ypsilanti legend showcases exceptional versatility and a range that Hip Hop purists and casuals can rejoice in simultaneously.
All in 28 minutes, Sigidy boasts a benevolent aura lyrically anchored with elevated social commentary. This self dubbed “street elegance” is the description of a sound and flow meticulously crafted throughout years of growth and unique artist development. From the start, Sig takes the listener through a casual stroll through modern day life with upscale twists and insightful turns. “Be Nice” displays a strong exhibition of range as songs start off aspirational, then goes into the signature 734 bounce Sigidy pioneered since his arrival in the game. This condensed listen features smokey production from frequent collaborators such a Spyda from Flint and Slwpk from Downriver, and remains anchored by the signature B.e-Z sound that keeps the Ypsilanti native familiar with listeners all across the board.
From the soulful soundscapes like “First Class” and “Unconditional” to the smokey production on “If Only” and “Air Quality”, Sigidy preserves a traditional hip hop feel with a early 2000’s southern flare topped off with a Detroit bop that keeps the album cohesive yet insanely versatile. The tape concludes with high energy freestyles that tie a ribbon on Sigidy’s next gift of cultural philanthropy to the game, hinting at more progressive music as the game remains playing catch up to the innovative audio that has been a signature staple in the ongoing saga of Sigidy music.
