Alus Shares New Video, “Aladdin”

Jersey’s own pop princess, Alus, was so inspired by British rap star Not3s’ smash single, “Aladdin”, that she just had to make it her own. Alus’ interpolation is definitely this year’s ‘girl power’ anthem, rife as it is with her signature sultriness, assertive sensuality and well-honed performance prowess.

“When I first heard Not3s’ song ‘Aladdin’, I fell in love with it.” ALUS shares about the inspiration for the remake. “The record immediately caught my attention and I knew I had to create a female version that was an exuberant celebration of all the women I know. No matter who you are or how you look, you can feel fly like Aladdin and that’s how this record made me feel. I also wanted the video to highlight the regal side of womanhood in all of us girls”.

With influences that include Aaliyah, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey, ALUS has already caught the attention of not only All Def Digital, Vibe Magazine, MTV Hits, Hot 97, The Source and XXL but also the eyes and ears of millions of online viewers, or the #alusarmy, with break-out hits like “Ordinary Girl”, and “Talk It.” The ensuing buzz has garnered recent co-signs from the likes of Nicki Minaj, Big Sean and Steve Rifkind to name a few.

To ensure her vision for “Aladdin” was infused with just the right amount of glamor and fluid live-action shots, ALUS wisely chose Prime Prodigy to direct her video. His previous work with French Montana, Fetty Wap and Jim Jones guaranteed that opulence would abound and he did not disappoint. As you watch her confidently display her kingdom with all of the swagger of a Saudi Prince, one thing is very clear. ALUS belongs in this world. She owns it and everything in it from the first shot to the last. In fact, ALUS’ command of this song will make you forget it wasn’t hers all along.
