14-YEAR-OLD SINGER/SONGWRITER IRIS COPPERMAN
CHOOSES EMPATHY ON BOLD NEW SINGLE “BULLY”
(February 20, 2026 – Santa Monica, CA) Today, Nashville-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Iris Copperman shares her emotionally raw but empathetic new single “Bully.” Released via Interscope Records, “Bully” draws from the 14-year-old artist’s personal experience with bullying and bravely meets cruelty with compassion. Go HERE to listen to “Bully.”
Centered on Copperman’s captivating vocals, “Bully” arrives as an open-hearted reflection on cycles of harm. To create the gently powerful track, Copperman co-wrote alongside Shane McAnally and Ross Copperman, tapping into the lyrical talents she’s cultivated since writing her first song at the age of five.
Revealing the extraordinary sensitivity of her songwriting, “Bully” opens on a cascade of urgent piano melodies as Copperman attempts to uncover the source of her subject’s callous behavior (“Does your dad not come home at night? / And when he does, does your mom just fight? / Do you have to turn out your own light? / And kiss yourself goodnight?”). At the chorus, a rush of radiant gang vocals deliver the song’s central question: “Hey, bully / Hurt people hurt people / So who hurt you?” With its lush backdrop of lavish strings, heart-pounding drums, and graceful acoustic strumming, the result is a deeply felt expression of human understanding.
Last month, Copperman made her Interscope debut with “Struggle Bus” — a pensive but potent track that journeys through a whirlwind of conflicting emotions and lands in a place of radical self-acceptance. The official music video for “Struggle Bus” uses its playfully surreal cinematography to capture Copperman’s multidimensional nature.
With more new music on the way, Copperman learned to play guitar and piano as a little girl and soon merged her vibrant musicality with her lifelong love of storytelling. Over the years, she’s refined her vision and brought a profound sense of purpose to her artistry, creating songs with a much-needed message of kindness and care.
