North Hollywood, CA — Television, film and stage actress, Vanessa Bell Calloway is back by popular demand in ‘LETTERS FROM ZORA’.  The one-woman stage show written by Gabrielle Denise Pina and directed by Anita Dashell Sparks; breathes life into letters from one of America’s most prolific novelists, Zora Neal Hurston.

Hurston’s literary works and short stories touched on the African-American experience during the Jim Crow Era and her struggles as an African-American woman. For many years, her novels were nearly unrecognized in the racist and sexist mainstream literary worlds, of the 20’s through the 60’s.  She was one of the few women active within the Harlem Renaissance.  The Hollywood Reporter theater review wrote this about Calloway’s fascinating performance.  “Letters From Zora-– In Her Own Words” is a well-intentioned and often informative play featuring Calloway, a vivid actor whose affection for her character is infectious.”  Seasoned actors like Vanessa Bell Calloway brings her brand of Broadway sophistication out West.  This stage play is a must see for all who love spellbound acting and phenomenal production.
