The one-woman stage show written by Gabrielle Denise Pina and directed by Anita Dashell Sparks; breathes life into letters from one of America’s most prolific novelists, Zora Neal Hurston.
Hurston’s literary works and short stories touched on the African-American experience during the Jim Crow Era and her struggles as an African-American woman. For many years, her novels were nearly unrecognized in the racist and sexist mainstream literary worlds, of the 20’s through the 60’s. She was one of the few women active within the Harlem Renaissance.
