2 Chainz Unleashes His 5th Studio Album

Now that it’s been a few days since 2 Chainz has dropped his long awaited fifth album ‘Rap Or Go To The League’ lets go ahead and discuss where 2 Chainz ranks amongst his peers shall we? Obviously, if you listened to the album this is a very different 2 Chainz project. Typically what we get are hard-hitting raps over dope instrumentation. But, this time he had something to prove. By enlisting Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James as A&R for this project only makes sense right considering LeBron is more than an athlete. Some songs on the project such as “NCAA” where he’s giving the young guys game about how to survive and maneuver while making no money on their talents. On the opening track “Forgiven” featuring Marsha Ambrosius you’ll find 2 Chainz in rare form getting deep speaking on his personal wins and losses even touching on his friend Lil Fate losing his son to gun violence. His 9th wonder produced track “Threat 2 Society” is definitely one of the standout records on the album. Honorable mentions on this album include “Rule The World” featuring Ariana Grande, “2 Dollar Bill” featuring Lil Wayne & E-40, and “High Top Versace” featuring Young Thug. To be all the way honest the most disappointing track on here had probably one of the most popular artists in the rap game which is Kendrick Lamar. The pair clicked up on “Momma I Hit A Lick” this song was very lukewarm and highly underwhelming. I felt like Kendrick attempted to try something new and used 2 Chainz song as an example that just didn’t work. If any song on the project I could do without I’d definitely have to say this one. Overall, this project shows me that 2 Chainz wants to be respected as elite amongst his peers and he’s truly making a case. Only thing we’re missing is a Jay-Z feature which hopefully comes soon.

If you’ve listened to the album over the weekend what did you take away from it and is this his best work in your eyes?
