Johnny Britt Brings Soul To The 2019 Jazz Festival At South Mountain Community College

SMCC hosts a free Black History Month Music Event Celebrating it's 2019 Jazz Festival featuring award-winning, singer, songwriter and composer, Johnny Britt.

Friday, February 22, 2019, at 7 PM – 10 PM South Mountain Community College Performing Arts Center.

Phoenix, AZ – Johnny Britt returns to Phoenix with his ‘So Hot Show’ at South Mountain Community College’s Jazz Festival in honor, of Black History Month. Founding member of Motown’s ground-breaking, Jazz/Hip-Hop group, Impromp2 and former music director of The Temptations has made Johnny a musical sensation, in award-winning films and motion picture soundtracks. This month, the singer, songwriter, trumpeter, composer, producer and Billboard’s #1 charting, Contemporary Jazz artist will now be bringing his international show to South Phoenix.

An anticipated annual tradition, the SMCC Jazz Festival is taking it to the next level, celebrating culture with Jazz and a one-of-a-kind experience. SMCC Jazz Ensemble, SMCC Latin Jazz Band and other local artists will also be performing at the Jazz Festival in an effort to unite the community through a soulful music experience.

“It’s a very unique, free event for the community at South Mountain. We have organized this festival every year; making this a magical experience for all who attend and enjoy the soulful sound of Jazz,” said Dr. Jerome Garrison, faculty professor for more than 25-years. Dr. Garrison further says, “It’s an honor to have Johnny Britt as our guest, supporting a local event and helping unite a wider community.”

Johnny’s newest CD ‘SO HOT’ has climbed to #7 on the Smooth Jazz Charts and is most added, at Jazz radio across the nation. The artist went back to his Jazz roots on this album; whereas most of the songs are contemporary Jazz arranged. Tracks, ‘Hot Fun In The Summer’, featuring Najee, ‘Love Is Amazing’, featuring Jazzy-Rapper, Kashan, ‘Highway 10’ (2nd., single to be released March 22, 2019 and title song ‘So Hot’ featuring Paul Brown are break-out smash hits.

All are welcome to attend this free Jazz concert.
