Grammy considered, recording artists Norm Adams and Julia Robertson have teamed up once again, for the highly anticipated follow up to their 2016 worldwide hit, #10 on Top 50 R&B, Hip Hop Digital Radio Tracker Chart “Body Rush”. The new single and new music video, “Home Tonight”, finds the duo, who on their previous hit, sang about the euphoric feeling of love at first sight, now trading barbs, as each gives the other their position on the idea of a one-night-stand.
Produced by Buddy Wike from the hit 90’s R&B group Intro, the up-tempo groove prominently features conga drums and a bassline that is sure to have heads nodding from start to finish. Lyrically, Adams has crafted a story that is both relatable and fun. During a playful exchange between he and Robertson midway through the song, he tips his hat to the legendary R&B group/producers Full Force, and their work with Robertson’s former group Ex-Girlfriend. Full Force’s Bowlegged Lou gave the song his stamp of approval, saying it’s “mad catchy”, and that the two artists are “rocking it great together”.
For the accompanying music video, Adams and Robertson once again teamed with award-winning director, Maurice Paramore, to create a visual interpretation of “Home Tonight”; which showcases the two as performers. Throughout the video, live performance shots are interspersed with various staged scenes, giving it somewhat of a throwback feel. Most impressive, however, is manner in which the video pays homage to the musical era that shaped its two stars, by featuring cameo appearances from a who’s who of 80’s and 90’s hitmakers; Force MD’s, Hi Five, Allure and Riff (from the movie “Lean On Me”)
“Home Tonight” is an undeniable smash that will take you back to the days of “feel good” music. If you are someone who longs for that bygone musical era, this is your new favorite song!
