Banker David Rockefeller dies at 101

Heir to the legendary Rockefeller oil fortune, bank executive, and philanthropist, David Rockefeller, has died at the age of 101. A spokesman, Fraser P. Seitel, says he died peacefully in his sleep Monday morning at his home in Pocantico Hills, New York.

A billionaire who was the last of his generation in the famous Rockefeller family, David Rockefeller was at the head of a widespread network of family interests, both business and philanthropic. He also headed what is now JP Morgan Chase Bank.

Rockefeller was the sixth child of John D. Rockefeller Jr. and the grandson of Standard Oil co-founder John D. Rockefeller. He had six children: the late Richard, David Jr., Abby, Neva, Peggy and Eileen; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
