9000 Signs to Ruby Recordings

Tee Grizzley isn’t the only artist celebrating a new signing, as 9000 has now officially signed with Ruby. Born Ramon Rivas, The big announcement comes 3 months ahead of his next project Touch My Soul, which drops May 9.

“I was talking to different labels, Columbia, RCA, Epic,” 9000 tells One West. “I decided not to sign with Epic even after L.A. Reid offered me a crazy deal. [Senior Vice President of A&R at Ruby] Erick Lang & Ruby CEO Trizzy understand me and my vision for myself and also my label. Ruby gave me the opportunity to take over the game completely and that’s what I’m going to do.”

9000 was previously signed to So So Def Recordings, and 9000’s label Rivas Records is still under So So Def Recordings, as is Boyface. This new deal is for 9000 as a solo artist.

So far, 9000 has released “Don’t I” from Touch My Soul. There’s no doubt his consistent new material has given Ruby some confidence in bringing him into the fold. He also appeared recently on Beyonce’s “All Night” and one of Gramz’s feature-packed singles, “Bankroll.”

9000’s official debut album is expected to drop later this year.
