Paula McCoy-Pinderhughes is a New Jerseyan by way of New York and Texas on a mission to inspire, educate and entertain. She is the recent author of A Woman’s Game, (available on amazon and bn.com) the fictional story of the Alexanders’ an affluent, African-American family living on the edge of destruction whose lives changed forever the day Bruce, the family patriarch, stood at the head of the table and destroyed his family with one Thanksgiving holiday toast. Truth for him was salvation, but for his family, it was a living hell.

In the spring of 2014, Paula began a one year book promotions tour including book fairs in NY, NJ and Baltimore, book club readings in as many states, podcasts and radio interviews, as well as newspaper and magazine interviews. “I absolutely love, love, love meeting the readers of ‘A Woman’s Game!’ she says with contagious enthusiasm. “The passions they express for the characters they love or hate in the novel is everything a writer could ever ask for!” After repeated requests from readers, she is now scouting interest for A Woman’s Game as a film or TV movie or series.”

Because of the excitement of A Woman’s Game and questions that frequently come up such as ‘where did you get your inspiration to write a book filled with so many diverse characters,’ and ‘how did you manage to write a book with several subplots and still manage to stay on course with the main theme of the story,’ Paula is launching Writing&Wine, a traveling creative writing workshop where she’ll teach the elements of writing in a fun environment while sipping on fine wines and socializing with old and new friends, family, and colleagues.

Although her body of work is numerous, she lists a few of her proudest accomplishments: Small Business Editor for Black Enterprise magazine, where, after leaving, she decided to write a how-to-self-help book, How to Be an Entrepreneur and Keep Your Sanity for African-American entrepreneurs and small business owners which continued the mission she’d started—to see more small businesses created and sustained with the knowledge gained and shared while having that national platform.

An original poem she wrote, ‘Our Children’ from her book of poetry, Quite Simply, How I Feel (celebrating black heritage) dedicated to the children lost in the Oklahoma City bombing, was read aloud on the U.S. Senate floor by her NJ Congressman and entered into the Congressional Record. Also, being recognized by a local NJ chapter of the NAACP for her work as an entrepreneur and for publishing the first African-American small business newspaper, The Franklin Voice, in her hometown.

But most of all, she says, “meeting the many readers of A Woman’s Game at book fairs, book clubs and private readings from New York to Baltimore and just knowing that I’ve provided a bit of entertainment in someone’s life, gives me the greatest satisfaction of all.”

Expect the sequel to A Woman’s Game in the summer of 2016.
